On-Site Services

For those who might be seeking to build their home themselves “physically,”  you may be interested in certain aspects of a system that I consider to be more in the line of Vernacular Architecture.  (The term Vernacular Architecture refers to local building styles that are built using local labor and materials; these styles are directly influenced by regional culture, conditions, and climate.)

I have been in the Rutherfordton area for the last eight years, and have been primarily involved with a building system affectionately referred to as Marion Stone Post and Beam.  This system calls for:

  • On-site cutting, notching and fabrication of all materials
  • Tongue and Groove roofing with insulation panel systems
  • Tongue and Groove wall panel with insulation panel systems
  • Integrated steel bracing

I am available for the services involved in the aforementioned system as well as assistance with:

  • Layout
  • Post N Beam assembly
  • Site organization and management
  • Interior framing and wall applications
  • Exterior siding

In addition to the above, I have been involved in some projects which I refer to as exotic such as:

  • 16’ x 118’ 2 –story Oriental-influenced post and beam built on Pinnacle Mountain
  • 200 year old chestnut horse barn re-cut to build custom log home with on-site hand hewed 40’oak trees to build second story
  • Western cedar hay barn remodeled to create a bed and breakfast currently available on-line at www.rockybottomcabin.com
  • As well as additional years of conventional framing, and an extensive background in custom marble and tile design, lay-out, fabrication and installation.

Available by the day, week, or particular phase of your project.  If you are interested in my services, please contact me and we can assess your situation.
